Is Noocube a Scam? – Does it Work?

Is Noocube a scam? Yes and no. I’m sure it has some benefits, but it’s also not the most effective nootropic supplement on the market.

One thing is for certain, Noocube has been marketed very well. In the nootropics space, it seems to be ubiquitous.

But is it worth buying? Is it worth your money?

In this review, I’m going to be as factual as possible. On the other hand, I want to protect you, my fellow consumers, from getting ripped off.

So let’s get started, shall we?

What is Noocube? – Who makes it?

The question I always like to ask first is, “Can I trust the manufacturer?”.

After all, there are some shady players in the supplement industry, and not all nootropic stacks are worth buying.

Top-Rated-Nootropics-Noocube-Review-Shady-Players

Noocube is made by a company named Wolfson Berg Ltd, and their headquarters are in Sydney, Australia.

They specialize in workout supplements formulated to maximize performance.

Curiously, the customer service center is located in Cyprus, an island in the mediterranean.  Not sure why to be honest.

Wolfson Berg has been making supplements for just over 10 years, and their processing methods are in line with the guidelines laid out by the FDA, and cGMP; Current Good Manufacturing Practices.

What this means is that their products are tested by a neutral 3rd party before distribution to ensure safety, purity, and effectiveness.

One thing I like is that the customer service support they’re offering isn’t just for refunds and complaints.

You can also call in to ask questions about how to use Noocube more effectively for your particular situation.

By the way, I should also mention that some of the Noocube reviews available online are now outdated.

The formulation for Noocube was changed just a few months ago from 9 ingredients to 7.Is Noocube a Scam - Ingredient Label for Noocube Nootropic SupplementPlease note that reservatrol is used as a preservative in this formulation for it’s antibacterial and anti-fungal properties.

It’s not an active ingredient in the stack.

In any case, I think removing the other 2 ingredients was a smart move because they were both redundant, and one of them was a synthetically produced nootropic.

It would be difficult for Wolfson Berg to claim that Noocube was an all natural supplement with an artificially created nootropic in the mix.

Continuing on, the herbal ingredients are not ‘Certified Organic’, which I am sure drives the overall price down, but also diminishes the quality of the product.

All purchases are covered with a 60 day money back guarantee, which is decent, and should give people enough time to decide whether or not Noocube is the right stack for them.

Noocube provides free worldwide shipping, which is great.

If you return your purchase, you’ll have to send back any unused bottles of product, and pay for the return shipping.

What is Noocube for? – High Octane Fuel for the Brain?

I can tell at first glance that Noocube was formulated with enhanced performance in mind.

The list of ingredients really emphasizes getting your brain operating at maximum capacity.

Top-Rated-Nootropics-Noocube-Review-Performance

Other nootropic stacks I’ve reviewed have had a slightly different focus.

Mind Lab Pro, for example, is intended to let the brain function better by providing it with all the right nutrients.

It promotes brain health first, as a base, and enhances performance and motivation after-the-fact as a result.

Noocube claims to enhance overall productivity by improving:

  • Working Memory
  • Multitasking
  • Alertness
  • Focus
  • Neuroplasticity
  • Stress Resistance
  • Mental Energy

All of these benefits are provided without the use of stimulants like caffeine or racetams.

Why should you care?

Stimulants can provide fast results, but can also make you crash.  They can also be addictive.

The stated overall objective of Noocube is to provide users with a safe and effective nootropic stack, at an affordable price.

That’s a pretty tall order, and in order to determine whether or not Noocube has the ability to deliver on this promise, we really need to look at the DNA of this supplement.

Do the ingredients have enough “Mojo” to entice consumers?

Noocube – What’s the ‘Secret Sauce’?

I’m going to go through each individual ingredient at a very high level, and highlight the best known benefits of each.

Top-Rated-Nootropics-Noocube-Review-Secret-Sauce

This should give you an overall view of how Noocube may or may not be an effective nootropic stack.

Alpha GPC – Crosses the blood-brain barrier easily, and provides choline to the brain.  Choline is the basic building block for the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.

Acetylcholine is the first neurotransmitter every discovered, and is essential for many functions in the brain.

Supplementing with Alpha-GPC improves memory, learning ability, focus, and mental energy.

Bacopa Monnieri – A natural nootropic that compliments choline supplementation extremely well.

Bacopa prevents acetylcholine from being reabsorbed, thereby increasing its’ effectiveness in the brain.

Bacopa is best known for improving focus and mental flexibility by increasing the sensitivity of receptor sites at the synapses.

It also acts as a vasodilator, helping deliver more nutrients and oxygen to brain cells.

Cat’s Claw – Provides neuroprotective qualities as an antioxidant, soaking up free radicals that can cause inflammation in bodily tissues, including the brain.

Studies have also shown that Cat’s Claw increases levels of Brain-Derived-Neurotrophic-Factor(BDNF).

BDNF encourages neurogenesis, or new brain cell growth for healing and improved overall brain function.

Top-Rated-Nootropics-Noocube-Review-Cats-Claw

Huperzine A – An extract derived from Chinese club moss.

Huperzine A prevents acetylcholine from being broken down, which increases short-term memory and overall cognitive capacity.

It also acts as an antioxidant, protects mitochondria from damage, and encourages the production of Nerve-Growth Factor(NGF).

Huperzine A is best know for improving overall brain health and providing an energy boost.

*NOTE: Huperzine A should be cycled, as most users develop a tolerance to its’ effects with prolonged use.  A standard schedule for cycling would be taking a supplement Monday to Friday, with weekends off.

L-Theanine – An amino acid naturally found in tea, coffee, and other food sources.

L-Theanine is best known for promoting a state of relaxed focus, and has been proven to increase Alpha brainwave activity.

It’s great for enhancing creativity, concentration, promoting flow states, and providing anxiety relief.

Neuro-hackers describe using theanine as, ‘being in The Zone’.

L-Tyrosine – Another amino acid commonly found in foods, but instead of being used to build muscle, the body uses it to synthesize neurotransmitters.

This has earned tyrosine a well deserved reputation as a performance enhancer.

It improves short-term memory, focus, mental clarity, energy, and multitasking ability, even when a person is under stress.

Tyrosine is recognized as a great nootropic for shifting attention and providing greater motivation.

Oat Straw Extract – Acts as a vasodilator, providing more oxygen and nutrients to the brain.

Oat straw extract increases levels of dopamine and serotonin, as well as Theta brainwave activity.

This in turn leads to an enhanced state of alertness, mental flexibility, better memory, and mood.

As an added bonus, it also acts as an antioxidant to protect the brain from free radicals and stress factors.

All right, now that we know what the individual ingredients can do, let’s take a comprehensive look at how they interact with one another.

Does Noocube Really Work? – Formula Analysis

The first thing I notice is that Alpha-GPC is going to improve overall cognitive performance by boosting levels of acetylcholine.

Bacopa monnieri and huperzine A are both going to block aceytlcholinesterase from breaking down acetylcholine.

Optimizing acetylcholine is going to improve overall cognition, learning ability, and mental energy.

L-Tyrosine is going to amplify these effects further by encouraging the production of dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine.

Bacopa will also increase receptor sensitivity at the synapses, enhancing overall efficiency.

Several of the ingredients also act as adaptogens and antioxidants, providing a good defense against stress factors and free radicals.

Bacopa and Oat Straw Extract both are also vasodilators, delivering more oxygen and nutrients to the brain.

All of these interactions should, in theory, create a synergy that provides greater benefit than any of the ingredients could provide on their own.

The ingredients are all natural, proven effective with clinical trials, and are safe for prolonged use.

Noocube looks like an awesome stack, at least on the surface.

So why are the reviews online so inconsistent?

Noocube Reviews – Are they Telling You the Truth?

Like I mentioned earlier, a lot of online reviews are claiming Noocube is an amazing nootropic supplement, but is it really?

When I compare the dosages in Noocube to the ideal amounts known to be effective based on clinical research, they’re inconsistent.

For example, the amount of bacopa monnieri provided by Noocube is spot on.

If you take bacopa as a stand alone nootropic supplement, the recommended dosage is 250-500 mg/day.

Noocube provides 250 mg/day with 2 capsules, and 500 mg/day with 4 capsules.

Perfect!

However, the recommended dosage for Alpha-GPC is 400-1,000 mg/day, and Noocube only has 50 mg/day in 2 capsules, and 100 mg/day in 4 capsules.

Even with bacopa and huperzine A boosting the effects of the acetytcholine by preventing it from breaking down, this is a very conservative dosage.

Choline also seems to be the “key ingredient” in Noocube, because it provides a lot of the benefits most consumers want from a good nootropic stack.

Choline levels are also optimized by several other ingredients to maximize its’ effectiveness in the formula.

Is Noocube a Scam? – Let’s be Honest…

The fact that the amount of choline in Noocube is so low leads me to the conclusion that this stack was very poorly thought out.

However, the bad news doesn’t end with choline being critically under-dosed.  There are other issues that I need to mention as well.

The combination of bacopa monnieri and huperzine A in the stack doesn’t make sense.

Number one, they’re both doing the same thing; preventing acetylcholine from breaking down.

Number two, they conflict with one another.

Top-Rated-Nootropics-Noocube-Review-Conflict

Bacopa monnieri needs to be taken daily for several weeks to produce consistent benefits, and huperzine A needs to be cycled so users don’t develop a tolerance to it.

How can you let the bacopa monnieri play its’ part in the stack if you need to cycle the huperzine A?  It just doesn’t work.

Personally, if Noocube were my baby, I would take huperzine A out of the stack entirely, and add 150 mg of CDP choline into each capsule.

That would balance out the stack.

Sadly, I can’t help but compare Noocube to Tiny Tim from ‘A Christmas Carol’; it’s severely crippled.

Anyone taking Noocube will still be better off than if they took no supplement at all.  There are some really good natural nootropics in it.

However, it won’t be as effective as consumers expect it to be until the formula is improved.

The Noocube Supplement – A Band-Aid for your Boo-Boo

I have a solution in mind for anyone that still wants to try Noocube.

Other reviews written about Noocube complain that Noocube lacks efficacy, but that the service from the company is really good.

This is what I propose.  If you are going to try Noocube anyway, take some CDP Choline with it so that it can perform at the level you expect.

This is a CDP Choline supplement I can recommend that is good quality, and very affordable:

Top-Rated-Nootropics-Noocube-Review-DW-CDP-Choline

CDP Choline can pass through the blood-brain barrier more easily than Alpha-GPC, so less of it is needed to deliver the same amount of Choline to the brain.

The recommended dosage of CDP Choline for cognitive enhancement is 250-300 mg/day, as opposed to 400-1,000 mg/day for Alpha-GPC.

This supplement has 300 mg each capsule.  One capsule per day should compliment your Noocube stack perfectly.

You’ll still have to cycle Noocube because of the huperzine A, and the bacopa monnieri won’t work as well as it should, but the other ingredients should still be effective.

However, with all of the nootropic supplements on the market, does Noocube really deserve your hard earned dollars?

Who should take Noocube?  What for?

What is Noocube for? – Who can Benefit?

All things considered, I think Noocube was designed with the budget conscious, performance driven consumer in mind.

This would include:

  • Students
  • Working Professionals
  • Athletes

Noocube could also work for ‘beginners’.

Top-Rated-Nootropics-Noocube-Review-Beginners

The ingredients are very safe, even with prolonged use.

This could allow a new user to start off gradually, and increase their intake slowly.

Overall, I would give Noocube 2.3 stars out of 5.

It’s plagued with some pretty serious issues, and the formula needs to be improved.

Is Noocube a scam?  In my opinion; yes.  It is.

Wolfson Berg Ltd has pumped tons of money into marketing Noocube, but at the end of the day, it’s just not a great product.

If you want a simple and affordable nootropic supplement that’s complete on its’ own, and yet good for custom stacking, I recommend Performance Lab Mind.

Honestly, Performance Lab Mind is everything Noocube is supposed to be, and it works.

Right out of the box.

Thanks for reading my review on Noocube.  I hope you found it objective, but fair.

That was the balance I was trying to strike as I looked at who could benefit from using it.

In my next article, I’ll be taking a look at Phosphatydilserine(PS), a great nootropic for mental flexibility, energy, and long term brain health.

Until next time,

Michael

  1. Hi Michael,

You’ve really done some extensive research on this topic. At first glance, the product seems quite expensive, but it’s actually very reasonably priced.

I have had some experience with supplements in the past, and it’s important to highlight the benefits they can provide.  This is especially true when the nutrients are food grade, but are not commonly seen in our diet.

Based on my experience, many foods we buy at the grocery store are lacking in the nutrients we would expect them to contain.  They have so many preservatives and additives in them now that they have almost no real nutritional value.

That’s why supplements like Noocube are becoming more and more important to a healthy lifestyle.

I think with the information you’ve presented in this article, people will feel more confident in buying this product.

    Great article!

    • Hi Andre,

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.

You are very right about food losing its’ nutritional quality.  I have a background in nutrition, and I remember covering fats in one of my classes.

Chocolate has some very waxy fats in it just to extend its’ shelf life.  But how good is that for our health?

On a related topic, some other reviews written on Noocube have criticized the presence of Oat Straw as an ineffective ingredient.  This is overly harsh in my opinion.

Yes, oat straw is a food grade nootropic, but that doesn’t mean it’s not effective.  Besides, they are completely overlooking the fact that Noocube includes OAT STRAW EXTRACT.

It’s a highly concentrated substance, and it’s very potent(but safe).  If you are interested, you can read my post on Oat Straw Extract to see for yourself.

I bet you will be surprised to find out how many benefits oat straw extract has to offer.

Thanks once again Andre, and if you have any questions, just give me a holler!

  2. Hi Michael,,

    Thank you for your article

I was in fact looking for a natural way to enhance my memory and capacity to focus.

Also, I can see that Noocube is beneficial for mood as well, by increasing dopamine levels. My favorite part of the review is  ‘Acts as an antioxidant to protect the body & brain from inflammation and stress factors’.

Thank you very much for letting me know about Noocube.

    • Hi Yoanna,

Thanks for reading my review.  Glad you found it helpful.

If you want to improve your memory and focus, I think Noocube is a very good option.

Price point turned out to be a pretty big concern as I was writing this review.  Noocube is very affordable.  If you are willing to spend a bit more, you could also take a closer look at Mind Lab Pro.

The formula for Noocube places a little more emphasis on short-term, or working memory, whereas Mind Lab Pro focuses on improving both short-term and long term memory.

Thanks once again for visiting my site, and please comment again if you have any questions.

I think Noocube provides a lot of value. It promises to provide a lot of perks, but has a very modest price tag.

Personally, I prefer Mind Lab Pro, but I think Noocube could work really well for a lot of people looking for a performance focused supplement.

Glad you liked the review, and if you think of any questions later, please post another comment.

  4. Hey Michael,

    Nice article you have here.

I read about Noocube back in college.  My question now is why has the company decided to reduce the ingredients used from nine to seven?

The other 2 ingredients must have had some purpose in the formula.  Were they not backed by scientific evidence like the other 7?  Are the benefits they possess no longer needed?

    Thanks,

    Edah

    • Hello Edah,

Thanks for reading my article.  I really appreciate your curiosity about nootropics.

In answer to your question, companies making nootropic supplements will sometimes adjust their formula in order to have the product meet the intended focus of the stack, and their marketing plan.

Opti-Nutra, for example, used to have caffeine in Mind Lab Pro, but they took it out.  Why?  They wanted to be able to say that their product provided clean energy, free of stimulants.

I hope that answers your question, and if you still need help, just post another comment.

      Thanks once again Edah!

  5. Hello Michael,

What an interesting review we have here on noocube!

This is what I got out of your article; Noocube is a brain booster that enhances cognitive function with powerful, pure, and safe ingredients.  It contains a synergistic blend of nootropics that help support and enhance your focus, mental speed, and memory.

    Did I get everything right?

I also love the fact that Noocube doesn’t have any strong stimulants, which means one doesn’t need to stay up all night.

Based on your analysis of this product, I’d recommend Noocube for athletes, and maybe students, because of the low cost.

Thanks for putting this review together.  I really enjoyed it.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my review.

Yes, you got everything spot on.

Noocube is free of any stimulants, and is relatively cheap compared to other nootropic stacks.  This makes it a good choice for budget conscious people, and new neurohackers wanting to try a safe product.

You still need to avoid taking Noocube later in the evening, or you could have trouble sleeping.  I just wanted to give you fair warning.  If you take a few more capsules in the afternoon, you should be fine.

If you know anyone that could benefit from using Noocube, please share my article with them.

And if you think of any questions, please just post another comment.
